Description
This an oil on canvas Expressionistic painting that I created in 1970, it was an expression of my inner self as seen through a phychedelic haze. Bright Day Glow colors and tones were an expression of the era! Measured 56"x 46"
Expressionism emerged simultaneously in various cities across Germany as a response to a widespread anxiety about humanity's increasingly discordant relationship with the world and accompanying lost feelings of authenticity and spirituality. In part a reaction againstImpressionism and academic art, Expressionism was inspired most heavily by theSymbolist currents in late nineteenth-century art. Vincent van Gogh, Edvard Munch, andJames Ensor proved particularly influential to the Expressionists, encouraging the distortion of form and the deployment of strong colors to convey a variety of anxieties and yearnings

Lyric, this is an amazing piece! I love the composition, but especially the way you depicted the three moods. I feel a dichotomy of sorts - a "simplistic" and clear representation of complexity and intensity within the mind. Beautiful work! ~ l/f/T

I love this series of yours from the 70's and they will certainly be just as relevant today. Great colors! LF
